Si tu me suis depuis quelques temps, tu sais que j’adore le jacquard. Et être confortable dans mes vêtements. Hmmm… voilà qui n’est pas toujours bien compatible en terme de patrons. Jusqu’à ce que je tombe sur le patron du High Cuff Sweater par la marque suédoise The Assembly Line : un sweat en chaine et trame ! J’avoue que j’étais intriguée et voici ce que ça donne…

Le patron du High Cuff Sweater

J’ai acheté ce patron à l’occasion de soldes de MeterMeter.dk, une mercerie danoise qui propose de fort jolis tissus (bio notamment) et des patrons originaux mais malheureusement assez chers. The Assembly Line est une marque chère du point de vue français, le niveau de vie suédois étant plus haut.

Le patron se présente dans une enveloppe taille A4 entièrement en noir & blanc. La planche à patron est très claire, imprimée sur papier 90g. Les instructions sont très complètes, avec des explications pour lire les symboles sur la planche et des notions de bases pour la couture.

Les tailles vont du XS (tour de poitrine = 80 cm) au XXL (tour de poitrine = 123 cm) et les mesures du vêtement fini sont aussi données.

Cela n’apparait pas sur le dessin technique (oooh pas bien !) mais le patron propose des pinces poitrine.

Le tout se coud dans 1,1 m nous dit la pochette… je pense que c’est peut-être même un poil moins car j’ai réussi à caser ça dans un petit coupon de récupération (pas du tout rectangulaire donc) de jacquard acheté à La Textilerie… après un petit moment à jouer au Tetris quand même. Parfois, il faut penser un peu « outside the box ».

Sinon, le patron présente des manches légèrement tombantes, avec des têtes de manches très plates. Dans le dos, le bord-côte remonte plus haut pour accompagner la cambrure.

La couture du High Cuff Sweater

Parlons 2 min du tissu. C’est un superbe jacquard de composition inconnue car de récupération. Il y a un peu de lurex à l’évidence puisqu’il brille mais sinon, je pense que c’est du coton. Il reste doux avec une main un peu rigide, probablement une étoffe pour la décoration à l’origine. Ce qui lui donne cet effet un peu bouffant avec ce patron.

Le High Cuff Sweater est vraiment tout facile à coudre. Les manches se montent à plat et l’assemblage des bords-côtes au col, poignets et bas se fait sans problème. Un projet de sweat pour débutant en somme !

Perso, j’ai assemblé ça à la surjeteuse, mais ça marcherait aussi très bien à la mac.

Je me suis juste un chouya compliqué la vie en intégrant la lisière de ce magnifique tissu sur l’encolure. Mais elle était trop belle pour rester cachée ou finir à la poubelle non ? J’en ai d’ailleurs encore gardé un morceau pour un prochain projet.

Seul point d’attention avec le High Cuff Sweater peut-être : le bord-côte du bas se coupe en 1 seule pièce. Il vaut mieux acheter un bord-côte suffisamment large. Une largeur de 70 cm suffit en taille S.

Dernier mot sur le High Cuff Sweater

Même s’il est vrai qu’il a un côté bouffant (bouffie ?) très 90’s, j’aime beaucoup ce sweat. J’aime porter des beaux tissus et ce sweat me permet de faire juste ça. Je vais assurément réitérer avec un tissu plus souple et avec un meilleur tombé. Le rendu sera totalement différent, et ça, c’est vraiment le plaisir de la couture sur-mesure.

Je le porte donc régulièrement et je te le recommande chaleureusement !

If you’ve been reading my blog or Instagram for a while, you know I love jacquard fabric. And to be comfortable in my clothes. Hmmm … that’s not always compatible in terms of patterns. Until I find the High Cuff Sweater pattern by the Swedish brand The Assembly Line: a woven sweatshirt! Woohoo! I admit I was quite intrigued and here’s what it looks like …

The High Cuff Sweater pattern

I bought this pattern during the sales at MeterMeter.dk, a Danish haberdashery that offers very pretty fabrics (some organic) and original patterns, but unfortunately, quite expensive. The Assembly Line is an expensive brand from the French point of view, the Swedish standard of living being higher.

The pattern is in a size A4 envelope entirely in black & white. The pattern sheet is very clear, printed on 90g paper.

The instructions are very complete, with explanations for reading the symbols on the pattern and basic notions for sewing & seam. Sizes go from XS (bust = 80 cm) to XXL (bust = 123 cm) and the measurements of the finished garment are also given.

This does not appear on the technical drawing (oooh not good!) but the boss offers chest darts.

The pattern calls for a 1.1 m … I think it may be even a less since I managed to put it in a small 2nd hand coupon (not at all rectangular) jacquard bought La Textilerie … after a little while playing Tetris anyway. Sometimes you have to think a little outside the box.

Otherwise, the pattern has slightly drop sleeves, with very flat sleeves head. In the back, the ribbing goes higher to accompany the backside.

The High Cuff Sweater sewing

Let’s talk 2 min of the fabric. It is a beautiful jacquard of unknown composition because of it’s 2nd hand status. There is a bit of lurex obviously as it shines but otherwise, I think it’s cotton. It remains soft with a somewhat rigid hand, probably a fabric for decoration originally. Which gives him this effect a little bouffant with this boss.

The High Cuff Sweater is really easy to sew. The sleeves are sewn flat and the ribbing at the collar, cuffs and hem is easy to assemble. A nice sweater project for beginners who don’t feel to try knit fabric just yet.

Personally, I assembled this with the serger, but it would work very well to a sewing machine.

I just complicated my life a bit by incorporating the edge of this beautiful fabric on the neckline. But it was too beautiful to stay hidden or end up in the trash, isn’t it? I have also kept a piece of it for a future project.

Only point of attention with the High Cuff Sweater maybe: the bottom ribbing is cut in one piece. It is better to buy a sufficiently wide ribbing. A width of 70 cm is sufficient in size S.

Last word on the High Cuff Sweater

Although it is true that it has a quite puffy look, very 90’s, I really like this sweatshirt. I like to wear beautiful fabrics and this High Cuff Sweater allows me to do just that. I will definitely reiterate with a softer fabric that fall better. The result will be totally different, and that the real pleasure of sewing!

I wear it regularly and I recommend it warmly!
